Cuffin' it

Jacket: Army Surplus Store. For realz. / Tee: Stylemint / Jeans: Forever 21 / Snood: AE / Shoes: Cons, thrifted. / Glasses: Firmoo (yes I know I have a problem)

So I wore these jeans to work, and typically, I roll them up once or twice due to their length. When I got to work I was on Pinterest (whoops) and I saw a little pin about tips from a J. Crew stylist. One of the awesome tips was how to create a 'messy' cuff. I, of course, immediately recreated this on my own cuff and I loved it. It shall be my new way of cuffing!

Anyhooters, I was on a shoot yesterday morning so I had to dress comfortably since I was lugging crap around, and in layers in case we were outside. I've had this camo jacket in my closet for awhile, but I typically only wear it when I go camping or shooting or something of the outdoorsy sort (*hashtag redneck*). My brothers pick these up for me on occasion from shows or surplus stores when they get a good deal on my size. I have 3 or 4 different types of these jackets in my closet. True story. But I think this one cost $3, which is epic. Trendy AND cheap? Bet the Army Surplus Store had no idea...

Happy Friday ya'll!

Pajama skirts

Jacket: NY & Co. (similar) / Tee: AE (similar) / Skirt: Old Navy / Cons: Thrifted / Glasses: Firmoo

Hi new followers from BSSS! Welcome :) I hope ya'll stick around!

Lets talk about this skirt for a minute. This very well could be the most comfortable and flattering skirt I own. I happened upon it in Old Navy a couple weeks ago, and I couldn't WAIT to wear it.

I recently read an article in Good Housekeeping (yes I get Good Housekeeping) about one woman's dirty little secret. She would *gasp* sleep in her clothes sometimes, and then get up and keep right on wearing them the next day! While I haven't done this since college, it did get me (and my extreme morning laziness) thinking. IF I was to ever do that, I would definitely do it in this skirt. It legitimately feels like pajamas. And there ain't nothin' wrong with that.

Have you ever slept in your clothes and woke up and kept right on wearing them the next day??

If you really knew me

Jacket: NY & Co. (similar) / Dress: Sonoma for Kohl's (similar) (similar) / Tee: Gap / Shoes: Toms

All my exciting news was yesterday so I don't have a lot today. But I decided in my effort to let you guys get to know me a little, I'd participate in the fun little game of 'If you really knew me' going around the bloggersphere lately! Ok GO:

If you really knew me...

You'd know Fall is my FAVORITE time of year. Nothing makes me happier then sweaters and jeans, football Sundays, crockpot meals, Halloween, crisp breezes and apple cider.

You'd know I'm a secret nerd. B and I are desperately trying to go to Comic-con next year. I'm also obsessed with all things Harry Potter.

You'd know I have to shower at night because I can't get up early enough to do it in the morning. Not so much a morning person.

You'd know I'm very crabby if I'm hungry.

You'd know I've grown a lot in the past couple years, and I feel more independent and sure about myself and my choices then ever.

You'd know I've spent my whole life in a constant state of trying to lose weight. A few months ago I finally decided to embrace my size, and instead focus on being healthy and strong.

What do people not know about you??

Dressing good to feel good

Jean Jacket: NY & Co. (similar) / Tank: Kohls / Skirt: Made with this pattern / Shoes: Mossimo via Target

I think I overdid it yesterday. I was so confident in my ability to work and clean and sew, I nearly killed myself. Leading me to wake up really really late and really really tired today. I may take most of the day off and rest again tomorrow for the weekend, in hopes of 100% health by Monday. What do you think the odds of that are?

In the mean time, I made this super cute skirt with THIS Simplicity pattern, and I LOVE it. The pockets on the side are so cute and handy. I started a really pretty maxi dress last night too, but I made it a pinch to small and it doesnt sit on my hips right. Oh the woes of sewing.

The day I was birthed.

Dress: Anthropologie / Jacket: New York & Co. / Shoes: American Eagle (similar)

I've been holding out on this dress for a very long time. I splurged on it a few months ago when B and I took a weekend trip to Portland, and its been patiently waiting in my closet ever since. I admit I was holding out for a 'special occasion,' but I didn't know what. Its always difficult when you spend a lot of money on one piece, because, if your like me, you become uber protective of it and terrified that you'll spill on it or rip it. But as I was thinking about my outfits for the week (yes I try to plan out the whole week, or at least a few days come Sunday night!), I thought, I could get hit by a bus tomorrow and die never having worn this gorgeous dress. And what better day to wear it then my birthday?!
And literally, every single person I've come into contact with so far (even the guys in my office!) have complimented me on my pretty dress.

Makes a girl feel great on her 28th birthday. :)

This picture doesn't remotely do it justice - Its not available anymore but you can see a better view here. The detailing is just AMAZING. Well done Anthro. Well done.

Also, I tried THIS with my hair today and I think it turned out quite nicely! It was also crazy easy to pull off and added a sweet little spunk to my outfit. I'll definitely try it again, perhaps with a little bit'o teasing next time!
