Windy City

Cardigan: Target / Top: Aerie / Pants: Gap (super old) / Shoes: Thrifted Cons / Scarf: Handmade gift from B's momma

...And no I'm not talking about Chicago. The wind in the Tri-Cities last night was out of CONTROL. It had me up from 3:30am until about 5:30am, which is no picnic when you went to bed at midnight and have to get up at 6:45am. Gusts reached almost 75mph and shook the house so bad I thought it might collapse. Thankfully for us, the extent of our 'damage' was that our grill cover blew away, but many areas around the Tri-Cities look like a tornado went through! Garbage everywhere, tumbleweeds stacked up, power out, siding down and Christmas decorations scattered. Not cool weather, not cool.

Thats pretty much all I've got today folks, I'm crazy tired and cranky, and my eyeballs hurt. Time to do some work!

Hope yall have a lovely Monday!

It's OK and an outfit!

Sweater: B's, old, I think its from Target? / Skirt: Forever 21 / Boots: Blowfish

Normally today I'd Thursday remix it up. Sadly, I didnt post an outfit last week so I had none to remix. Next week I'll remix something from THIS outfit though, so watch out! This is happening.

So on to my 'it's ok's'. I really like this little Thursday feature because it makes me feel better about my bad choices ;)

It's OK that I went to the gym on my lunch hour, and forgot my sweat towel, shower shoes and deodorant... or is it? That will be determined by how my coworkers react to my smell AND if I develop athletes foot. TBD.

It's OK that I couldn't find anything for lunch so I stopped at the gas station and bought a greek yogurt and cheese stick. Must go to the grocery this weekend.

It's OK that I had to talk myself off a ledge when I got a new AE coupon in the mail. "You DO NOT need to buy any more clothes right now!"

It's OK that my beautiful roses from my anniversary are starting to wilt. I will keep them as long as humanly possibly because they represent something so special, I love looking at them every day.

It's OK to take a mental health break in the middle of the day, and go talk to my girlfriends instead of working. My plate is overloaded and my brain is having a hard time keeping it straight.

It's OK that the temps are cooling off and now I can't stop thinking about all my fall outfit choices! Katie is a happy girl :)

It's OK that I've been so busy this past month all I can think about in the evening is plopping on the couch and playing video games or catching up on my DVR until my brain is numb and then I go to sleep.

Thats all I got. What are your 'It's OK' moments??

Copycat Friday

GAH! I hate when I don't schedule my posts correctly and they don't post. I totally missed Copycat Friday, but I'm posting anyway, 'cuz my outfit was dern cute!
-------
Today I didn't copycat a person - I copied a pin!

I saw this cute little ensemble floating around Pinterest and it looked sooooooooo comfortable and cute! I knew I had just the pieces to recreate it.

It's casual, comfortable, sweet and a little romantic. It's perfect for my office as the days have cooled into the low 80's but the A/C in the office is still in high gear. Plus we all know I love my Toms and I'm ALWAYS trying to find fun new ways to wear them!

[Weekend Wear] Fair Edition

Tank: Anthropologie (clearance) / Pants: Maurices (similar) / Shoes: thrifted Cons

This weekend B and I hit up the Benton Franklin County Fair. Being the midwesterners that we are, we both love a good fair (I am not lying when I tell you B was 4-H king in his day. Yup. That's my man.). Needless to say, we had a blast - I spent an inordinate amount of time with the goats (is it weird that I REALLY want a goat?) and Jerrod Neimann was the headliner. I love me some country.
We missed the rodeo which I was a tad bummed about, but we played several rounds of bingo at the bingo tent, and in my eyes, that more then made up for it. We also caught the hypnotist and ate loads of terrible fair food, including but not limited to: corn dogs, shaken lemonades and hot buttered corn on the cob - though we did steer clear of the deep fried butter and funnel cakes. We also spent some time in a really cool little wine garden that had a pretty decent pianist.

As you can imagine the fair grounds were dirty and dusty, so I went with a comfortable outfit that I didn't mind getting a little dirty in. The only thing missing was my cowboy hat (how did I forget that?!)

What's your idea of good fair wear??

Spending time

Kimono Cardi: PoshLov (from a StitchFix) / Jeans: Rock & Republic via Kohls / Sandals: American Eagle (similar)

Happy Monday!
I had a pretty amazing weekend, I hope ya'll did too.

I wore this outfit Friday, and it ended up being perfect for my running around.
B is finally on a decent shift, and he now has Fridays/Saturdays off, so we have a somewhat normal weekend together - which I LOVE. Friday afternoon I left work early and we went for an eye doc appointment, (where I got some super cute new glasses, I can't wait to pick them up!), and then we went for happy hour at my favorite Tri-cities restaurant. I loooove $5 appletinis! After, we hit the local comic book store and spent an hour or so perusing mementos of our childhood (I left with a Stay Puft marshmallow man piggy bank and an April from TMNT action figure... don't judge). To finish the evening we ordered a pizza and watched our favorite episode of Parks & Rec ('The Fight' - if you haven't seen it, and you like to laugh, you should). All that, and it was only Friday!

Saturday was just as epic, we spent the early afternoon at the pool, grilled out, FINALLY went and saw The Dark Knight Rises (OMG.... Amazing. That's all I can say about it. Just. Amazing.) and then hit the grand opening of the new Dairy Queen by our place.

B had to work Sunday, but that works out great for me. By Sunday I'm already thinking about the week ahead, so I spent the evening gearing up for the week and relaxing by reading Harry Potter and playing some Sims. I love spending quality time with my babe, especially because it's so hard to come by with our schedules, but I love having some 'me' time too! So I'm pretty sure this new schedule is going to work out amazing. :)

Did ya'll do anything fun this weekend??

Cabochon crazed

Dress: LC Lauren Conrad / Sweater: American Eagle / Sandals: American Eagle (similar) / Earrings: Self made

Happy Tuesday ya'll!

I'm sorry for slacking on posting yesterday. Sometimes, my outfits are just sub-par, and I'm overwhelmed so much so with the Mondayz that posting is the last thing on my mind, ya know?

But here I am with a cute little ensemble from yesterday. I got this dress a few weeks ago on sale at Kohl's, hoping I'd be as in love with it as I was THIS one from Anthropologie. No such luck. Its cute, and it'll get some wear, but I'm still craving the Anthro version!

So is anyone else crazy about cabochons lately? I keep buying them in bulk and turning them into fun things, mainly, loads of earrings in every color. I think I see my first craft post coming! :)

Rain, rain go away

Button up: New York & Co. (similar) / Tee: American Eagle / Pants: American Eagle (similar) / Shoes: American Eagle

As I mentioned in my post yesterday, we were unlucky enough to have a poop day filled with chilly air and rain. This outfit is by no means super fashionable, but it was definitely comfort clothes when all I really wanted was to curl up in bed with a good book! Sometimes, comfort just wins. :)

Its a little cooler in the Tri-Cities today so a cozy plaid and jeans felt like the way to go!

Happy Tuesday ya'll!

Hi-Low Wednesday

Dress: Mudd for Kohl's - on sale! / Cardigan: New York & Co. (similar) / Shoes: American Eagle

Gah! Sorry for the lack of post yesterday ya'll. B and I are gearing up for a little vacation this weekend, which always seems to require a lot of pre-vacation errands. I don't mind though, considering by this time tomorrow I hope to be on the Las Vegas strip, 3 bloody mary's in!

Yesterday was also a sad day, one of my fave gal's had her last day of work with us, resulting in an extra long lunch hour at a delicious Mexican restaurant, thereby foregoing my normal picture taking time. This is likely to happen again today as we have a work meeting during lunch - but rest assured, I'll be back Monday with loads of vacation pics to show off my getaway style :)

Also, I swear I didn't walk around barefoot all day, it was just late by the time I got home and I forgot to keep my shoes on :) I paired this outfit with the AE sandals above! I'm in love with these shoes, the hot pink is a great accent for almost all of my summer outfits!

Do you have go-to summer shoes??
