Musical Memories

Cardi: NY & Co. (old - similar) / Tank: Old Navy (similar) / Jeans: AE (similar) / Scarf: AE (similar) / Belt: CAbi / Shoes: Michael Kors / Glasses: Firmoo

Do you ever have days where you just HAVE to listen to a specific album or artist for some reason? Like it perfectly sets or suits your mood. Today I'm having a nostalgic day and I can.not.stop. listening to Leona Lewis. Its funny how music can take you back to a certain time in your life.

I digress. I really liked this outfit until I saw the pictures. I feel like the wide-leg pants make things look a little masculine maybe? But I love the colors anywho. Side note, this is day 4 dirty hair. I'm taking the week without washing challenge, and dry shampooing it up, and I am completely erring on the side of LOVING it. My hair feels silky and its completely doing its own thing. Day 2 was rough, but after working through that kink, its rockin. I strongly suggest you try it, for the health of your (in my case severely,) beaten up hair!

Hope you all have a beautiful day kids!!

And so it begins

Sweater: Forever 21 / Tank: Old Navy / Pants: Gap circa 2006 / Flats: Gap circa 2007

Happy Monday yall! This week is set to be an exhausting one. B and I have barely packed and yet we are getting the keys to our new place on Wednesday. We have movers coming to move the heavy stuff (we are on the 3rd floor right now, ain't no way we were lugging my giant Victorian style bedroom set down those stairs ourselves!), new furniture being delivered, and loooots of packing to do. On the upside I only have a 3 day week in the office. On the downside, I'd rather be in the office then doing moving. Hashtag UGH.

Due to the long days of work and the long nights of packing, you'll likely see pretty casual, comfortable ensembles this week. See Exhibit A above. :)

Hope you all have a lovely start to your week!!

A little bit Rock'n'Roll

Tee: A&F / Vest: Stylemint / Jeans: Forever 21 / Flats: Target / Glasses: Firmoo

I'm kind of obsessed with this vest. It was my first ever Stylemint purchase, and I've been waiting for the right time to wear it. I feel a little grungy 90's in it, no? This vest definitely showed me that I need a little more flannel in my life. I often put outfits together without really thinking about the whole look head to toe, but that was not the case here. Everything from the dirty, messy hair to the glasses to the cuff of my jeans was intentional, and I looooove the way it turned out. What do you guys think? Am I channeling my rocker side?!

So GUESS WHAT!

B and I got the townhouse! Whoop whoop! We pick up the keys Oct. 31! I always knew Halloween was a lucky day. I can't wait to move and, in typical Katie fashion, I also can't wait to go furniture shopping this weekend! We have a lot of space to fill! Last night we sat down and discussed what we needed/wanted, and the fact that the couch we purchase, will be our couch for the next 10 years, is just nuts to me. It feels like a really big commitment to a piece of furniture. Hopefully we find one that makes us say 'we do'.

Now on to the NOT so fun part - getting our apartment packed up in 3 weeks - eesh! (Side note, isn't it crazy that after living somewhere for a year you can accumulate so much crap?! We purged when we moved here and yet we have a TON of stuff to get rid of already! Goodwill here we come!)

I hope ya'll have a lovely Wednesday hump day!!

[Weekend Wear] Anniversary Edition

Blazer: Target / Tank: Old Navy / Jeans: LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl's / Shoes: Michael Kors / Purse: Coach / Photos compliments of photographer B :)

Happy Monday ya'll!
Though Blaine and I's anniversary was last Monday, we actually celebrated it Saturday night. And this is what I wore!
We had a nice fancy dinner, hit the comic book store and grabbed a couple beers and played the touch screen games at a local dive bar. We ended the evening playing a round of Wii Wheel of Fortune. Ah 2 years of relationship bliss :) It may have been simple but it was a blast, and I'm so thankful to have had B in my life for these last two years. I'm a lucky lady!

Lunch with the Governor

Dress: Kohl's / Belt: AE / Shoes: AE / Earrings: AE

I am beyond thrilled its Wednesday. This week has been tough and I'm looking forward to the weekend already.

Ok so I didnt exactly have lunch WITH the Governor, but she was there, so it counts! Yesterday I was invited to a TRIDEC luncheon as a guest of one of our board members. We recently built a website for a new book he authored and he invited us as a thank you. The food was only so-so, but the Governor was speaking on area issues and it was definitely interesting. I wore this outfit because I thought it mixed young and creative with professional fairly well. Looking at the photos now I think it may have been a tad short, but I felt good in it nonetheless.

Now I'm off to the gym for my regular lunch hour workout, and its much needed today!

Have a lovely day ya'll!

3 out of 5

Tank: Old Navy (similar) / Jeans: Old Navy / Cardi: AE / Flats: Target

We've survived another week ya'll.

And I survived in another pair of colored pants. 3/5 days this week. Yup. I thought I had a problem a few days ago, and I KNOW I do now. But I couldn't ignore these beautiful mustard color pants. They are a perfect shade that makes them almost a neutral, no?

Lilly agrees. That's why she photobombed my picture.

I'm looking forward to a chill weekend of using my Kohl's coupons, wine tasting, kayaking and grilling out, hoping to extend summer just a tad (it's still pretty toasty here in the Tri-Cities). What are ya'lls plans??

Wishing you a beautiful and peaceful weekend!

I like big buns and I cannot lie

Dress: American Eagle (similar) / Cardi: Abercrombie (similar) / Sandals: American Eagle (similar) / Earrings: Self made

I love when I get packages.
Really, this happens a lot because I have a shopping problem, and the stores in the Tri-cities are mediocre at best. Yesterday after work I was greeted with my package from my giant AE haul with my 40% off coupon. It was a very good package day indeed, and I already have many adorbs new outfits planned to show you! Hoo-rah!

Sooo is it still a million degrees anywhere else? I'm starting to see a few lucky bloggers pulling out their fall fashions and I am insanely jealous, as we are still stuck in the sweltering 100+ degree dog days of summer. I'm desperately wishing for a cool breeze and a sweatshirt. Ah fall... I suppose I'll enjoy the next month or so of my cute tanks and dresses, because once fall hits I know I'll miss bare shoulders, arms and legs.

Oh, and PS, ya'll notice my giant bun? I'm a big hair girl. Like a giant hair girl. I NEED volume. After several attempts, a sock just wasn't doing it for me. I needed more volume. Thankfully, I found it in the XL size of these lovely hair donuts at Claires. Its a purchase I'm supremely glad I made. My buns are now giant and I am one happy bun...head?

Dallas night

Dress: c/o eShakti / Shoes: Toms / Earrings: Self made (look for a tutorial this week!) / Lips: Revlon's Just Bitten Lip Stain and Blame in 'Flame'

Happy hump day!

Wednesday has become one of my favorite days this summer because (and try not to judge me here) its DALLAS NIGHT! Yes. I just went there. Do ya'll remember the old school Dallas TV show with Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy? The whole 'Who shot J.R.?' conundrum? Well if you haven't been living under a rock you've probably seen they rebooted it with the ultra sex-ay Jesse Metcalfe and Josh Henderson (both of Desperate Housewives fame).

I remember being just a tiny girl and watching the old school version with my mom. When the whole series came out on DVD we bought them all and rewatched. Its really a show that totally takes you away, its just so far out there that its awesome.
And, turns out, the reboot is exactly like it was 20+ years ago - a backstabbing, completely unrealistic, secrets and lies good time, and I LOVE it. Last week's episode ended pretty epically so I can't WAIT to watch tonight.

Do you guys have any guilty pleasure TV shows??

Space Dyed

Dress: Maurices (similar space dye dress) / Vest: Maurices (similar) / Sandals: American Eagle (similar)

Happy Friday ya'll!!! This week flew by for me, and I'm not sure why considering it was a fairly slow one at work. Yesterday I had the unfortunate experience of working out on my lunch hour (my new 'gym hour'), jumping in the showers quick, and then realizing I didn't bring a towel. I had to dry myself with those awful non-absorbent cheap brown paper towels. No bueno. Luckily today we are having a fun little grill and chill at work for lunch so I'll be hitting the gym after and can shower at home! Eesh!

Anyhooters, I got some fabulous patterns and fabrics awhile back so I plan to spend my weekend sewing up a storm (not a literal one, though we have had plenty of those lately in the Tri-Cities)... I hope to blog my progress on a few pretty items.
Anyone else have super fun weekend plans??

OH and if you are an eShakti fan, use promo code KA23CKZ to get 10% off anything you purchase through July 31 - even the 40% off sale! Shop it up!

Slumming Tuesdays

Dress: Liz Claiborne for JCPenney / Cardigan: Abercrombie (similar) / Shoes: Toms

As I'm fairly certain its only females that breeze over this blog, I feel its a safe place to say that I'm feeling AWFUL today thanks to the arrival of a certain monthly gift. In Lehman's terms this also means incredibly bloaty and crampy and in no mood to put on a cute outfit and take pictures!
So in real life, I'm slumming it today with elastic waist pants and a giantly oversized tank, but thanks to the wonders of the interwebz, you all can imagine this pic from a few weeks ago is what I really look like today ;)

In brighter news, I'll be back tomorrow with my first non-iPhone pic! Hooray!

Tuesday's on Fire

Dress: Kohl's / Shoes: Target (old - similar) / Cardigan: New York & Co. (striped - but super cute similar)

I got this dress for $20 at Kohl's as an easy to throw on summer dress. I was unsure about it at first, but with the right accessories it just feels right!

Happy Tuesday!

Nautical Inspired Wednesday

Sweater: Abercrombie (similar) / Top: Old Navy (similar) / Jeans: Rock & Republic for Kohl's / Belt: Gap / Shoes: Michael Kors

The first full day back to work after being sick for a few days is always a drag. You have so much catch up to do and, if your like me, you may still be in a medicinal haze. I'm blessed to work in an environment that doesn't require 'corporate' or even 'business casual' attire - its more of a 'almost anything goes, but try to look nice and professional if you have a meeting with a client' kind of requirement. Luckily, today was not a client meeting kind of day. I may not have been feeling 100% yet, but I was trying darn hard to look it!
PS. These shoes are pretty much my favorite and you are bound to see a lot of them in this blog!!
